Welcome my children,
To the Oppo confession booth. Where you can share your honest thoughts about automobiles without being judged.
I’ll go first.
1. I don’t get the fascination of Volvo station wagons like the one that the librarian used to drive in elementary school.
2. I think the Miata is overrated and way too small to be practical.
3. I currently hate BMW and what’s happened to them.
Now Oppo, share your confessions.
NOTE: DO NOT TRY TO TELL ME I’M WRONG AND WHY. THESE ARE OPINIONS. SAME GOES TO OTHERS.

Confession:
I agree with you on all points presented here.

Ford should offer a DCT version of the ST twins.
I don’t think Mazdas are really all that. They need to offer more powerful engines, then we’ll talk.
I don’t like a single product Mercedes makes and will never own one after what Diamler did to Chrysler.
The only Volvos I’d ever own would be an S60 or C30, maybe an XC60.
I couldn’t give a shit less about Saab being gone.
I don’t think the Avenger was a particularly bad vehicle as long as it had a V6.
I think the Nissan VQ V6 is one of the best sounding 6 cylinder engines in production right now.
I welcome our Hybrid/electric overlords.

The manual transmission circle jerk is over blown. Nothing wrong with having a shiftable automatic.
Tastefully done brodozers can be cool.
If I see someone in an unmodified Miata I’m going to automatically assume they’re gay or a hair dresser or a gay hair dresser.
![]() 05/17/2015 at 18:25 |

Here goes.
1. I really don’t care about how high a car’s top speed is, can’t go over 120km/h anyway.
2. The GSW is the only wagon I’d actually buy & it would be black or white, not blue or brown.
3. Miata isn’t not the answer.

I kinda like how the Pontiac Aztek looks.
Also I don’t think the Ferrari Daytona really looks that special.

I think Alfas are overrated, overpriced slow shitboxes.

Hahahahahaha, #3.
I agree though, manual transmissions are a bit overblown. I love driving my A4, but when it comes to twisties I spend most of my time in 3rd gear and occasionally will go down or up one. But besides that, nothing a shiftable automatic can’t do.

Thank you all for giving me a list of people to ban.

As much as I try to like driving a manual every day, I’m getting an automatic for daily duties and saving manual for the weekends

Sure any time brah.

I also currently hate BMW example the N63 engine is a unreliable heap.
I don’t care about the fist or fost, every one here busts a 10mm nut over them.
If you drive a Crown Vic and try to tailgate me and slow down traffic, you’re a sociopath.
I like the camaro and its pillbox visibility.
Miatas are overpriced in my area unfortunately, I’ll never be able to buy a cheap one ($2500)
There are very few FWD cars I like.
Trucks are car enthusiasts too.

1. There is nothing wrong with lifted trucks, as long as it isn’t crazy high.
2. LS swaps are way too over played. They are the easy way out.
3. When it comes to sounds: V10>I5>V8>I6>V12>V6>I3>I4.
4. GM has the biggest brand snobs for whatever stupid reason. I’ve met some that make the worse BMW driver seem like a humanitarian.
5. The Ford vs. Chevy debate is dumb. Dodge has the Cummins, the Hellcats, and the Viper, they’ve won.
![]() 05/17/2015 at 18:50 |

Manuals are not all good. Autos are better. Case in point: Hyundai manuals suck, their autos are better.
Mazdas are overpriced.
Regular old Volvos (non-tuned) have no reasons why you should lust for them.
Rotary engines are pointless.
VWs are overrated.
I like the new BMWs.
![]() 05/17/2015 at 18:55 |

I have a special hate for 60° V6 engines, with one exception.
I have an especially special hate for the Nissan VQ.
V10s sound like shit
The Mazda 787B sounds like shit
Anything that revs over 12k sounds like shit
I3s sound better than I4s
I’m against LS swaps unless it replaces an engine that is loosely related to the LS series (looking at you, Rover V8)
I don’t give a shit about the Ford GT, Tesla Model S, SCG 003, modern Cadillacs
I don’t like compact hatchbacks, unless RWD
I like most Chris Bangle designed cars
I don’t like how most Alfas of the past 20 years look
I really, really hate the R34 GT-R, but only the GT-R
When it comes to Coupés: Notchback > Hatchbacks
I also dislike all Audis post C4
Minivans are the tits
I like Fiats.

I have never driven a turbo car.
![]() 05/17/2015 at 19:16 |

1. Lowered fast trucks are cool
2. C4 Corvette’s are the shit
3. I hate 99.9% of all FWD vehicles ever produced, CRX and Mini Cooper S and JCW being the only exception.
4. This is the only Miata I would ever own
5. Sometimes I want to take Tavarish’s advice and buy a used S-Class
6. Sometimes I want to take Tavarish’s advice and buy a 996 Porsche
7. I owned 4 trucks in my life none of them have been 4WD
![]() 05/17/2015 at 19:18 |

It’s not that spectacular to be honest, turbo lag is a bitch though. My current car is N/A but I’ve driven a couple in the past.

newest gen of BMWs are garbage. ive driven an x3 x1 320i 328i and 435i. Too much nanny state bullshit and that hood shut line is Charles Barkley Turrible.

1. The Abarth sounds like someone farting in a bathtub.
2. I don’t particularly care for racing. Indy, NASCAR, etc.
3. I miss Clay.

1. Hahahahahahahahahaha, I totally laughed in front of a bunch of other people there.
2. I never watch racing either, just not my thing.
3. I miss Clay also.

I have no interest in BMWs, now or ever. Ferrari either.
I’d love to get a Lincoln Town Car as a DD.
I have a mildly disturbing case of the wants for one of those pepto pink Mitsubishi Mirages.
![]() 05/17/2015 at 19:47 |

Not really. No. A lot less likely to cause an accident due to having to slow down to a crawl to drive over something, so on some fronts, it’s safer than lowering.

I hate Ford and General Motors. Mopar is okay though.

more concerned about highway 80 to 0 stops with a questionable susp. set up and 38’s with no brake upgrades. i live in Houston and almost get killed by brodozers on the regular so im biased.

Your number three point is correct. The Ultimate Driving Machine? More like The Ultimate “BMW-Driving-Asshole” Machine.

Tally Ho then :
I don’t like any BMW or Audi cars (Barring the i8) and think that ferraris are for poseurs
The Mercedes S class is the best car in the world
The Miata is over rated, underpowered, poorly built shit
I don’t like ford products
The Suburban is the best suv in the world, and the Cadillac Escalade is not just a Suburban in a suit(even though technically it is)
VW’s are (in America at least) overpriced under engineered days cows that are sold on a false promise of “German engineering and luxury”
Remember, these are just my opinions.
![]() 05/17/2015 at 20:18 |

I think F1 should just remove the drivers and just go to autonomous cars because it is no longer about drivers skill. The fact that a whiny little cock slap like Hamilton wining proves that point.

I agree with the ones presented by you.
I don’t really care if people keep shitting on the pony cars, I’m buying one and there’s nothing you can do to stop me.. unless you give me one (and yes, the steering wheel is disgusting, but dat interior doe)
The miata is boring bland and limp-wristed

These are pretty much my opinions that would conflict with well voiced opinions around here, although I can think of a few people who would agree with me. This list is long and I’m braced for people to tell me that I’m wrong, so come at me.
I don’t like Jeeps, AMC, or Buicks. Jeeps are borderline pure garbage from the factory and spending the money to modify them is silly. Buicks/AMCs have the dumbest timing cover designs ever.
I don’t like modern cars just in general, their design philosophies disgust me and they all look the same.
Bringing back Pontiac would be stupid, bring back Olds instead.
Studebakers and extinguished Americans marques need more loving than European ones because they built better cars.
Pretty much anything built past 1975 is not a serviceable or quality vehicle. They are disposable junk.
I hate pretty much anything FWD except for Eldorados and Toronados.
Volkswagens and Porsches are fragile, over-rated pieces of junk. Why anyone would want to drive around an ancient economy car that breaks all the time is beyond me. You could have easily spent your money on a classic Caddy instead. Old 911s are suicidal, if you want a classic sports car then get a Corvette instead. New 911s are not cost effective and not good looking, get a Corvette instead.
Sports cars are over rated, I’d rather be in something stylish, large and comfortable like a Cadillac, Lincoln, Imperial or Olds.
Anyone who raises/lowers their suspension looks like an idiot who could have spent money on something else.
I’d rather have something totally numbers matching and period correct than something highly modified to be a performance vehicle.
Respecting someone’s choice of vehicle or modification does not apply when they’ve modified it in a dangerous manner. Do it fucking right and do it for practical reasons or don’t do it at all.
Don’t replace factory parts if they are not broken or scheduled for maintenance. Modifications are a waste of money for the most part.
The manual transmission hype on this site is way overblown, autos perform better at the drag strip anyway and you don’t have looming clutch repairs to worry about.
Diesels sound like shit and have stupid powerbands. Fuel costs too much and the mpg gains are not that much.
I like cars with light steering, soft suspensions, and sprung bench seats.

1. The Ford Torino doesn’t get any respect in the muscle car world.
2. I don’t understand the Acura hate. Yeah, their business model is fucked, but they make some great cars.
3. If you drive a BMW, I automaticly think you have a stick up your ass. Even though the 3 series is a great platform.
4. I don’t like how everyone exclaimed for a cheap, rwd, manual car, the FRS/BRZ came out, and everyone wanted it to be more powerful.
5. I’m excited to see where electric/hybrid racing/sports car technology ends up in 10-20 years.

I’m late to this party but here goes:
1- Miata is not the answer unless the question is, “What’s a slow, stupid little car?”
2- Audi’s are not as boring as a lot of people think they are. There’s something to be said for doing something well, consistently.
3- I bought a Q5 and no I don’t plan to go off-road with it. I like SUV’s and wanted one. Deal with it.
4- I don’t care about the stereotype of GT-R and Z lovers, my 350Z was my favorite car I’ve driven/owned. I will soon get another Z (can’t decide between 370 or something slightly more vintage), and one day a GT-R, but not an R32 as that was the awkward teenage phase of them.
5- I think the C7 ‘Vettes are the only good looking ones since the C1/C2 but I’d still never get one because it’s a modern American vehicle and I expect it to last as long as ice in boiling water before there are serious issues.
6- I’m not bored by Porsche 911’s all looking the same since the beginning of time and I still love them. This may not be such a hot take, but there are those that would disagree.

Naw, you’re not late to the party at all!
I fully agree 100% with most of your points! Audi is very consistent, that’s what I love about them.

From the driving/ownership experience to the services to the buying experience, our time as Audi customers has been fantastic. I can’t say enough good things. Maybe update the MMI UI but it’s still very clean and functional.

Same! Always a clean new loaner, friendly staff, nice dealership, great build quality, great looks. Everything has been great.
